Dieter Rams, the father of modern product design, once said:
“Do less, but better.”
In the late 1800s, an Italian economist named Vilfredo Pareto observed something remarkable in his garden. He noticed that a small number of pea pods—just 20%—yielded 80% of the peas harvested.
Curious, he investigated further and found this uneven distribution repeated everywhere: in wealth, land ownership, and productivity. This observation became known as Pareto’s Principle, or the 80/20 Rule.
More than a century later, Pareto’s Principle remains one of the most powerful tools for maximizing results. Early in my career, I stumbled upon this idea and it transformed how I worked. I started consistently asking myself, “What’s the 80/20 here?”—and over the years, I began collecting small yet incredibly effective strategies that delivered disproportionate results.
I call these strategies “80/20 Tweaks.” Each tweak is subtle, practical, and designed to amplify your impact at work, boosting your credibility and influence with minimal effort.
80/20 Tweak: Small, subtle tweaks
In this newsletter, I’ll share one actionable 80/20 tweak each week—tiny adjustments with outsized benefits—so you can achieve more with less and ensure your ideas never go unnoticed.
